NEXT STEPS

Whatever's next, it starts with a conversation

Five things people come to us about. Read the one that's yours, then use the single form at the bottom — it goes to the person who handles that step, and they'll write back within a week.

I made a decision

You’ve decided you want to follow Jesus Christ. Congratulations – you’ve made the most important choice of your life. If you’re wondering what’s next on your journey, we can help! We'd love to connect with you.

If you have decided to follow Jesus, let us know and one of our pastors will get in touch with you!

Tell us and we'll do two things: give you a short guide for the first few weeks, and introduce you to one person who'll keep asking how it's going.

WHAT WE'LL SEND
A first-weeks guide — short, printed, no app to download
A Bible, if you'd like one
An introduction to one person, not a committee

Baptism

Baptism is an outward public expression that signifies a change has happened deep inside your heart. We believe that baptism is an experience based on a personal decision to follow Christ. Often being baptized is the first step of obedience we take after we accept Christ as our Lord and Saviour.

Baptism was an unmistakable act that marked a person as a follower of Jesus Christ. As Jesus died and was buried in the tomb, so too, Christians are plunged beneath the water. When Jesus was raised from the dead, as Christians come up and out of the water, it signifies a new life in Jesus Christ. We are dead in our sins and alive with Christ. While baptism does not save us, it does show the world the work of Christ in our lives. We like to say, it’s the first act of obedience. In Matthew 28:20 Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”

We’d love to see you at our next Baptism Class. Sign up today!

Child dedication

Child dedication is a special time to celebrate the precious child you have been blessed with. Many parents choose to dedicate their children as a public commitment of their desire to partner with God and the church in raising their child to know and love Jesus.

We believe children are a gift from God and are very excited to be part of this special occasion in the life of your family!

If you are ready to dedicate your child, we'll get you in touch with Pastor Heather.

Membership

Foothills is full of passionate followers of Christ who are dedicated to giving their tithes and offerings, serving faithfully and are actively involved in a Group. So, what is the difference between a regular attender and someone who does the same thing but is called a Member? And why does this matter?

Membership tells us you have chosen Foothills Alliance Church as your home church, are formally committing to Foothills’ mission and vision and are mutually accountable to the Leadership. It tells us you are willing to take ownership of and responsibility for our church family by giving your time, talents and treasures each year.

Four steps, usually over about two months. Nothing in it is a test.

STEP 1Come to the classOne Saturday morning: what we believe, how decisions get made, where the money goes.
STEP 2Write your storyA page, in your own words, about how you came to follow Jesus.
STEP 3Meet two eldersCoffee, an hour, and any question you've been saving up.
STEP 4Be welcomedIntroduced on a Sunday, prayed for, and added to the roll.

Growing

Nobody grows on Sundays alone. What actually changes people is slower and less impressive: reading a bit of the Bible most days, praying badly and often, and being known by a handful of people who notice when you go quiet.

If you want a place to start, start with a Life Group and one of the reading plans below. If you'd rather have someone walk alongside you for a season, ask — we'll try to match you.

One form, five paths

Tell us which step this is about. It goes to the person who handles it — no general inbox, no auto-reply.

Tim Gibbons, Community Life Pastor, reads every one of these.
